The Dakar Rally 2012 was more than difficult for InstaForex Loprais Team. With a victory in the second most important Silk Way Rally 2011, the team of Ales Loprais was among the major candidates to win the Dakar.
However, the first stages of the Dakar Rally 2012 were unlucky for the team. It seemed that there was too much time lost and the fifth place in overall results after few days of the marathon left no chance for the final victory. But…no matter what the circumstances, real champions have high morale, excellent performance and willingness to fight to the end. Having configured the truck to meet the requirements of the rest speed trials and considering the failures at the start, InstaForex Loprais Team began to impress with stage victories one by one until the penultimate day of the rally. By this moment it went second in overall results with some minutes losing to the leading crew. The final stage of the Dakar Rally 2012 could be more than hot with a fight between the leading IVECO crew and InstaForex Loprais Team that achieved tremendous speed on their Tatra. But an accident deprived spectators of a thrilling action and InstaForex Loprais Team of a chance to win any title in the 2011-2012 rally season. During the night’s crossing between two points the truck of InstaForex Loprais Team veered off the road and overturned.
The team was withdrawn from the race. But the most important thing is that serious injuries of Ales Loprais and other members of the team were not thought to be life and career-threatening. After few months of recovery, the brave InstaForex Loprais Team began to assemble a new truck from scratch, which will continue the crew’s glorious way.
Regular tests and ride trials of the Tatra truck from spring 2012 prove that InstaForex Loprais Team is committed and motivated to win, ready to demonstrate to the whole rally world their daring ambition to win, and overcome the losing streaks.
