About CME Group Inc.

CME Group Inc. is the largest US-based derivatives exchange in the world.

The company was established in 2007. CME Group Inc. currently includes the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board of Trade, and the New York Mercantile Exchange. CME Group Inc. shares and factors affecting them

CME Group shares have been traded on the Nasdaq exchange since 2002. Since then, their price has advanced from $7.80 to $186, setting an all-time high in September 2022. CME Group shares are very similar to an index basket, and their dynamics reflect the state of the US economy and the level of business activity.

CME Group shares are sensitive to the following factors:

  • The state of the US economy which now largely depends on the global crisis caused by the pandemic.
  • Business activity in the country. Its slowdown due to lockdowns weighs on securities, while post-crisis recovery supports quotes.
  • Monetary policy of the US Federal Reserve. Low interest rates may persist until 2024. Extensive stimulus programs keep investors interested.
  • The value of shares rises when risk appetite of major market participants increases. The fiscal stimulus promised by Joe Biden may be one of the factors to drive the prices.
  • Prospects of economic recovery after the crisis and the start of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 support stock exchanges in general and CME Group in particular.

Despite numerous factors affecting share prices, CME Group Inc. demonstrates a positive dynamic. As of today, its shares have recovered half of their previous losses and may continue to rise towards all-time highs.

The company has been paying dividends to shareholders every quarter since 2016. The dividend payout for the first quarter of 2023 was $1.1.
